After a long morning of walking, you finally make it into town. You're looking for a new knife, but everything was taken from the ruins of this small town years ago. After the great war, everything was destroyed.\n\nTwo super countries were formed out of the countries from the old world, each dictated by a different form of government. Those were the two major differences of these super countries. After a major dispute over genetic engineering, the two countries went to war. After five years of chaos, both were wiped out along with most of the population. The ones to live were the ones most far north of the equator, where the bioweaponry was unable to reach.\n\nThis doesn't mean it hasn't taken it's toll. You don't see people anymore. After years of scavenging and trying to live off the land, the unable perished. The last soul you've seen was a man driven mad, months back, after seeing his family ravished by raiders.\n\n<<if $hasLantern is true>>\n[[Go into what's left of the general store.|Store]]\n<<elseif $hasLantern is false>>\n[[Go into what's left of the general store.|Store2]]\n<<endif>>
It's almost pitch black, the store has no windows and the door is solid. You open up the door, and wander inside cluelessly. While looking for anything on what little light you have, you trip and hit your head against the ground. You don't wake up...\n\n[[Restart.|Wake]]
You walk. And walk. Finally, you make it back home. Tired from a long day, you decide to go to sleep.\n\nThe end, for now...
You don't have a lantern, and it is too dark to see.\n\n[[Go into the store anyway.|StoreInside]]\n\n[[I can't see anything. Guess I'll look for other things.|StoreOutside]]
You wake up fully rested.\n\n[[Start the day.|Up2]]
Defeated and bitter at yourself for not bringing your lantern, you decide to look around for anything else of value, like fresh food or water, but with no success.\n\n[[Go back to your hut for the night.|End]]
You pick up your bag and sling it around your back. The lantern comes with, still lit, as you push aside the reeds that act as your door for your wooden hut. The sun isn't up yet, but there is enough light outside that allows you to see, especially with the assistance of your lantern.\n\n[[Fresh day, fresh start. You wake up. It is still dark out, and the small hut you awake in is very cold. You look to your left, reminicent of when you used to see the face of your partner in bed, but now there is only the dirt floor.\n[[Get up.|Wake]]
You look around with your lantern for anything that might have been what you thought you saw. You don't see anything, and decide to go home.\n\n[[Go home.|End]]
DAY 1\n\nYou sit up, but the darkness prevents you from seeing anything. After fumbling around in the dark, you feel the heat being drawn out of your hand by your gasoline lantern made of cold steel. With your other hand, you find your matchbox.\n\n[[Light the lantern.|Lantern]]

You pick up your bag and sling it around your back. Just as you push aside the reeds that make up the door of your hut, you remember your lantern back inside.\n\n[[Leave the lantern and head into the ruins of town.|Town][$hasLantern = false]]\n\n[[Take the lantern and head into the ruins of town.|Town][$hasLantern = true]]
You go back to sleep.\n\n[[Wake up.|Wake2]]\n
You go into the store with your lantern at full blaze and search for what you came for. You end up finding the knife and an expired granola bar. In the corner of your eye, you see something move across your peripheral vision.\n\n[[Maybe it was my imagination, it's just time to go home.|End]]\n\n[[I need to investigate...|Look]]
Illuminated is the small space in the hut. Your materials are limited; getting anything in the middle of the woods is a constant struggle. The nearest ruins of a city is a day's walk from your living space.\n\nSurrounding you is your insulated sleeping bag, good enough for nights that get as low as -15 degrees Fahrenheit. You have no floor, just dirt. It's not comfortable, but you make it work. The rest of your possessions are all in your bag, which is made of canvas.\n\n[[Go back to sleep.
